As a Senior Engineering Manager for Continuous Deployment at GitLab, you will lead and grow a globally distributed team dedicated to building advanced deployment capabilities within GitLab's DevSecOps platform. GitLab provides an intelligent orchestration platform trusted by millions of users worldwide to accelerate software delivery securely. In this role, your daily routine involves guiding your engineering team to build a Continuous Deployment engine that manages live state, coordinates durable workflows, and integrates artificial intelligence-native governance. You will partner closely with product management, align technical directions with customer needs, and ensure high reliability. Additionally, a normal day includes holding regular one-on-ones, mentoring engineers, tracking milestone progress, removing blockers, and participating in incident management on-call rotations to maintain platform availability in an all-remote, asynchronous environment.

• Build and manage a globally distributed engineering team while supporting career growth.
• Hire, onboard, and develop engineers with clear expectations for quality.
• Partner with product management and cross-functional teams to shape product roadmaps.
• Set standards for reliable, secure, maintainable, and performant software delivery.
• Encourage the use of artificial intelligence as a core productivity tool in daily workflows.
• Hold regular 1:1s, provide feedback, and support professional growth through coaching.
• Track milestone progress, identify blockers early, and participate in incident on-call rotations.

Requirements

• Experience managing engineering teams, including technical and architectural discussions.
• Experience with distributed systems, durable workflow execution, state persistence, and replay patterns.
• Experience building or managing teams working on release orchestration or continuous delivery at scale.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes deployment patterns, GitOps workflows, and progressive delivery strategies.
• Experience with policy-based governance and event-driven architectures in enterprise systems.
• Experience building and managing teams in early-stage contexts and defining foundational processes.
• Experience communicating clearly in writing and conversation in a remote-first, asynchronous environment.
