Everbridge is hiring a Senior Software Engineer I – Backend & AI-Enabled in Bengaluru for a full-time role. This position involves building and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend services and cloud infrastructure for software applications. The team focuses on creating robust microservices, event-driven systems, and secure RESTful APIs that power essential business workflows. A normal day in this role includes designing backend architecture, writing code using Java and Spring Boot, provisioning cloud resources with Infrastructure as Code tools, and collaborating with cross-functional team members. Engineers also leverage AI-assisted tools to speed up coding, debugging, and testing while ensuring system reliability. Team members participate in technical design reviews, handle production support and on-call duties, and mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing to maintain high engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Manage AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools like Salt and Terraform.
• Build RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end product experiences.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to speed up coding, testing, and debugging.
• Drive reliability, automation, and observability across all services.
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews.
• Provide production support through on-call duties and incident management.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in enterprise applications.
• Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot development.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Salt and Terraform.
• Experience building cloud-native backend systems with microservices, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and AWS cloud platforms.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with AI-powered development tools like GitHub Copilot or Cursor.

Good to have

• Working knowledge of modern frontend development practices.
• Experience building AI-enabled applications, agents, and automation workflows.
