Couchbase is looking for a Sr Specialist, Global Payroll to join its expanding team in Bangalore, India. Couchbase is a leading operational data platform provider for AI, helping major market-leading companies replace legacy infrastructure with a unified platform for mission-critical workloads across mobile, analytical, and cloud environments. In this role, you will support the company's growing global workforce by managing international payroll operations. A normal day in this position involves handling accurate and timely wage processing, managing timekeeping, bonuses, and deductions for regions like India and the UK, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, performing off-cycle payroll runs, preparing journal entries, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, and continuously streamlining payroll procedures and internal controls to improve overall operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage timely and accurate payroll processes including wages, bonuses, garnishments, taxes, and benefit deductions for India, UK, and other assigned countries.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to process payroll, assist employees, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Review payroll registers and reports, and coordinate funding with the Accounting team.
• Conduct off-cycle payroll runs and execute year-end payroll activities and reporting.
• Prepare payroll journal entries, assist with account reconciliations, and maintain internal controls.
• Evaluate and streamline payroll processes by identifying automation and efficiency opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 8+ years of payroll experience with at least 5 to 6 years supporting global payroll operations.
• Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, tax compliance, balancing, reconciliation, deductions, and internal controls.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent organizational, time management, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
