Couchbase is hiring a Sr Technical Writer to join the documentation team in Bangalore. Couchbase provides an operational data platform for AI, building unified systems that empower enterprises with performance, flexibility, and global scale to replace legacy infrastructure. In this role, you will redefine developer-facing technical documentation by integrating Generative AI directly into workflows across all company products. A normal day involves combining deep technical knowledge with AI-driven workflows by directing AI tools to produce draft content, verifying output for technical accuracy, creating clear developer-focused documentation, and working closely with engineering and product management teams to understand core product capabilities. You will also act as an internal guide to help the writing team adopt Generative Engine Optimization practices.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end developer documentation for AI capabilities like AI Services, Vector Indexes, Search, and agentic applications.
• Champion the use of GenAI tools to scale documentation velocity and elevate quality while maintaining strict technical oversight.
• Guide and upskill the technical writing team on GEO strategies, GenAI tools, and automated writing workflows.
• Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and Cloud Ops teams to translate technical architecture into actionable guides.
• Author clear, developer-focused API documentation and code samples across modern programming languages.
• Manage documentation assets and integrate static site workflows.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience writing high-quality developer documentation in a database or enterprise software domain.
• 3+ years of experience in an engineering, cloud ops, or technical role with heavy involvement in AI technologies.
• Practical experience writing, building, or documenting agentic applications and related frameworks.
• Deep expertise in Docs-as-Code workflows, Git/GitHub, and static site generators like Antora, MkDocs, Mintlify, Hugo, or Nginx.
• Hands-on proficiency in Python plus working knowledge of another modern programming language.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure, and developer environments like VSCode.

Good to have

• Familiarity with C#, C++, C, Java, Rust, or Ruby programming languages.
