At siteminder in Pune, the Staff Engineer role serves as a key driver for complex engineering initiatives, technical direction, and team mentorship within the company's technical domain. Siteminder is the world's leading hotel commerce platform, building technology that helps thousands of hotels across the globe attract guests, increase revenue, forecast demand, and manage reservations. A normal day in this full-time position involves leading engineers to define technical requirements, performing spikes on backlog items to clarify scope, designing scalable and reliable systems, and providing solution options during research and delivery. You will work autonomously to build maintainable systems, conduct technical change impact evaluations, write detailed architecture documentation, and drive improvements in ways of working while coaching and training other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Perform spikes on backlog items to identify risks and clarify scope.
• Lead other engineers in defining technical requirements and solution options.
• Independently lead and complete solution development for complex projects.
• Define system resilience and performance strategies at a portfolio and project level.
• Mentor, train, and coach other engineers while providing people leadership when needed.
• Write detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured project and architecture documentation.
• Contribute to and lead standards within guilds and improve engineering processes.

Requirements

• Experience in engineering across multiple programming languages and technologies, including JVM, Node.js, and Vue.js.
• Experience coaching engineers and developing engineering practices.
• Experience facilitating requirements gathering and solution design.
• Strong complex problem-solving skills and forward-thinking ability to manage escalated technical challenges.
• AWS experience with EC2, Kinesis, SQS, ElastiCache, Lambda, S3, and related services.
• In-depth experience in microservices, API architecture, and solution design.
• Professional experience with relational databases and key-value or document databases.

Good to have

• Prior experience in hospitality, technology, and Global Distribution Systems (GDS).
