A normal day as a Cloud Operations Engineer involves monitoring the cloud for health issues, providing first-response support for problems affecting customer experience, and collaborating with various internal teams. You will troubleshoot complex challenges related to systems, networking, and storage, handling everything from individual droplets to broader cloud disturbances across a five-day workweek that may include weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and provide first-response to cloud health issues affecting internal or external customer experiences.
• Ensure maximum uptime for the global cloud infrastructure.
• Automate operational processes and build efficiency-improving tools.
• Coordinate operational work across multiple organizational teams to minimize platform impact.
• Research and troubleshoot complex issues concerning systems, networking, and storage at scale.

Requirements

• Solid experience with Linux operating systems or networking and daily upkeep.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and troubleshooting virtual machine instances.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies and troubleshooting containers.
• Familiarity with IPv4 networking and troubleshooting equivalent to CCNA.
• Knowledge of basic storage concepts and technologies.
• Experience with monitoring systems and incident management.
• Scripting experience in languages such as Bash, Python, or Ruby.
• Experience with configuration management systems.
