Smartsheet is hiring an Engineering Manager for the Forms team in Bangalore, India. The Forms team develops a widely used feature allowing customers to collect intake and manage information at scale. In this role, you will lead and mentor a diverse group of engineers across various experience levels. A normal day involves guiding backend architecture decisions, managing the team roadmap in collaboration with Product and Design, ensuring reliable project delivery, driving operational excellence, and exploring ways to integrate AI-powered capabilities into the intake experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and grow a team of engineers across all experience levels.
- Own roadmap creation, prioritization, and project delivery in partnership with Product and Design.
- Provide technical guidance on backend architecture, system design, and long-term decisions.
- Champion operational excellence to improve system reliability, availability, and performance.
- Build and evolve team processes, including sprint planning, on-call rotations, and structure.
- Partner with leadership to explore and shape AI-powered features for forms and intake.
- Handle interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and performance management for direct reports.
Requirements
- Strong technical background in backend development, architecture, and system design.
- 2-3+ years of experience managing medium-sized engineering teams.
- Proven track record of coaching and mentoring engineers from early-career to senior levels.
- Demonstrated experience in successful project delivery and roadmap creation.
- Strong experience driving operational excellence for high-scale systems.
- Ability to succeed and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills to translate technical work into business impact.
