As a Sr. DevSecOps Engineer at Smartsheet, you will be part of the global Security Operations team, helping the company unite human teams with AI agents and scale smart solutions. In this role, you will treat security and reliability as software engineering challenges to protect the production environment against attackers. A normal day involves engineering resilient infrastructure in a multi-cloud environment, automating threat detection, securing CI/CD pipelines, and leading incident response. You will work at the intersection of infrastructure, automation, and security, building a reliable platform that operates 24/7. This hybrid position is based in Bangalore, India, offering a unique opportunity to blend site reliability engineering and modern security operations while mentoring other engineers and championing a culture of operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain, and improve secure and scalable infrastructure in a multi-cloud environment using Infrastructure as Code principles.
• Automate threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management processes to handle security challenges at machine speed.
• Architect and secure CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated security tools like SAST, DAST, and SCA for developer feedback.
• Manage, operate, and secure container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes by applying best practices and hardening requirements.
• Lead technical resolutions during security and reliability incidents and conduct blameless post-mortems for preventative solutions.
• Implement and automate technical controls to ensure continuous compliance with frameworks such as FedRAMP, SOC 2, and ISO 27001.
• Serve as a subject matter expert, mentoring other engineers and championing a culture of security ownership across Smartsheet.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive technology experience, including at least 5 years in a hands-on senior SRE, DevOps, or Security Engineering role.
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in at least one major cloud provider, preferably AWS, and its core infrastructure and security services.
• Expert-level proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform.
• Expert-level proficiency in a scripting or programming language such as Python, Go, or Ruby for building automation.
• Deep experience with containerization, orchestration technologies like Kubernetes, and securing containerized environments.
• Proficiency with modern security operations toolchains including SIEM, EDR, and vulnerability scanning technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex problems in high-pressure production environments with fluent English communication skills.

Good to have

• Advanced industry certifications like CISSP, CISM, OSCP, or cloud-specific security credentials.
• Experience with compliance frameworks including FedRAMP, ISO27001, and SOC2.
