Instawork is seeking a Finance Associate to join its Bengaluru team, helping maintain clean and accurate books for a fast-scaling, high-volume operation. Instawork runs an AI-powered labor marketplace and the Instawork Robotics Lab, capturing real-world physical data to train robots for the robotics industry. In India, the company manages an on-ground engine including field operations, regional hubs, and a finance backbone. As a Finance Associate, your normal day involves managing day-to-day bookkeeping, handling thousands of small payments every week, processing payouts for Data Collectors and Field Officers, recording partner business payments, and running daily or weekly reconciliations across bank statements and trackers to ensure every transaction matches down to the rupee.
Responsibilities
- Record daily transactions accurately in accounting systems and Google Sheets to maintain up-to-date ledgers.
- Compute and process payouts for Data Collectors and Field Officers based on verified hours and tasks.
- Process payments and incentives to partner businesses while tracking them against agreed terms.
- Run daily and weekly reconciliations across bank statements and payment records to resolve discrepancies.
- Work with large transaction datasets using Excel and Google Sheets functions like SUMIFS, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables.
- Prepare payout summaries, expense reports, and simple dashboards for the Finance lead.
- Maintain invoices, proofs, and audit-ready records while applying basic GST and TDS handling.
- Coordinate with Operations, Inventory, and city teams to validate attendance and hours before releasing payouts.
Requirements
- 0 to 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounts, or finance operations.
- Comfortable working with large datasets and strong Excel or Google Sheets skills including lookups, SUMIFS, and pivot tables.
- High accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to handle high transaction volumes.
- Basic accounting knowledge covering ledgers and reconciliation.
- B.Com, M.Com, or an equivalent educational qualification.
- High integrity and discipline when handling money and records.
Good to have
- Exposure to Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
- Experience with payroll, vendor payments, or marketplace and gig payouts.
- Basic working knowledge of GST and TDS.
