Hardware Technician Lead || Night Shift

Instawork is seeking a Hardware Technician Lead to work during the night shift in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Instawork operates an AI-powered labor marketplace connecting skilled hourly professionals with local businesses, and through Instawork Robotics, gathers vital high-diversity datasets to train robotics foundation models for physical AI. In this role, you will act as the primary guardian of hardware integrity for a fleet of custom wearable camera rigs used in data collection. A normal day involves installing, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and deploying Instacore wearable devices. You will diagnose hardware problems, test cameras and sensors, flash devices with firmware updates, inspect circuit boards, maintain accurate repair records, and coordinate with engineering and inventory teams to ensure uninterrupted field operations.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve hardware issues affecting Instacore wearable devices during night shifts.
• Test, repair, and maintain head, chest, and wrist cameras, IMU sensors, cables, and connectors.
• Flash devices, install firmware updates, and configure hardware for deployment.
• Inspect motherboards, power circuits, and component assemblies using digital multimeters.
• Perform quality control testing and maintain accurate repair records in the service tracker.
• Support field teams with hardware troubleshooting and manage spare parts inventory.
• Prepare service reports and communicate recurring technical problems to engineering teams.

Requirements

• Diploma, ITI certification, or degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or related discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in electronics repair, hardware service, or technical support.
• Good understanding of basic electronics, hardware troubleshooting, and circuit boards.
• Experience using digital multimeters and basic electronic testing tools.
• Familiarity with firmware installation, device flashing, and hardware configuration.
• Comfortable working with Android and iOS mobile devices and applications.
• Willingness to work during the night shift and provide required on-site support.

Good to have

• Experience repairing camera-based, wearable, IoT, or embedded devices.
• Familiarity with soldering and component-level repairs.
• Experience following ESD-safe working practices.
• Exposure to inventory or hardware service-tracking systems.
