Navan is looking for a Manager, Engineering to join its team in Bengaluru, IN. The Enterprise Team at Navan develops the core operating system for the corporate travel platform, which manages user identity, complex travel policies, dynamic approval workflows, and enterprise-grade analytics. In this role, you will guide a skilled group of full-stack engineers to create scalable backend engines and sophisticated configuration tools. A typical day involves translating business needs into technical strategies, leading agile development processes, coaching team members, and collaborating with designers and product managers. You will balance immediate project execution with long-term architectural goals while ensuring your team builds secure, reliable, and scalable microservices for the Admin and User portals.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of 5-10 full-stack engineers by setting goals and giving feedback.
• Partner with product managers and designers to define roadmaps, deliverables, and project scopes.
• Guide architectural decisions for technologies like Java, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, and SQL/NoSQL.
• Improve agile development processes, track deliverables, and ensure operational reliability.
• Collaborate across functions to integrate complex features smoothly.
• Lead hiring efforts, identify staffing needs, and onboard engineering talent.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building scalable systems.
• 2+ years of direct engineering management experience.
• Strong architectural background with backend and frontend ecosystem knowledge.
• Ability to manage project delivery and balance competing priorities.
• Analytical skills to solve intricate system challenges and evaluate technical information.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled development tools like GitHub Copilot or Claude.
