New Relic is hiring a Manager, Product Design: Application Observability to lead design for Application Performance Monitoring and Log Management in Hyderabad. As part of a global team shaping the future of observability, New Relic builds an intelligent platform that empowers companies to thrive in an AI-first world by offering deep insight into complex systems. A normal day in this on-site role involves managing and mentoring a small design team, owning the overall design quality across high-stakes products, and collaborating closely with product managers and engineers locally and across international time zones in the US and Spain. You will balance team leadership with hands-on design contributions, champion user perspectives in roadmap discussions, and help your team utilize modern AI tools effectively. This position requires active daily engagement in standups and design reviews to ensure smooth alignment across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop designers through regular 1:1s, actionable feedback, and career growth support.
• Own design quality and accountability for shipped work across APM and Log Management products.
• Represent the user perspective and research insights in product and engineering roadmap discussions.
• Partner with PM and Engineering peers to align design value with business outcomes like adoption and retention.
• Keep the design team focused, manage incoming workloads, and balance competing priorities.
• Encourage and support the team in using AI tools such as Figma AI, Claude, and Gemini.
• Contribute hands-on IC design work when required alongside management responsibilities.
• Bridge the Hyderabad team with global partners in the US and Spain to maintain unified design standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years of product design experience with complex B2B or enterprise software.
• 2 to 4 years of direct people management experience developing designers.
• Proven experience working across time zones with async communication skills.
• A clear design point of view with the ability to evaluate work and give specific feedback.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• A portfolio demonstrating design process, problem-solving, and trade-offs.

Good to have

• Experience with APM, log management, observability, or developer-facing infrastructure products.
• Familiarity with design systems and knowing when to work within or push them.
• Experience hiring and growing a design team over time.
• Hands-on curiosity and experimentation with AI tools in workflows.
• Comfort prototyping with code or code-adjacent tools like Cursor, v0, or Replit.
