New Relic is hiring a Manager, Product Design: AI Products for an on-site role in Bangalore, India. New Relic builds an intelligent platform that empowers companies to thrive in an AI-first world by providing insight into complex systems. The Bengaluru design team focuses on autonomous incident response, the intelligence and platform layer, and AIOps. A normal day in this role involves managing a small team of designers, reviewing design quality, collaborating with product and engineering partners globally across time zones, championing the user perspective in AI roadmap discussions, and occasionally contributing hands-on individual contributor design work. You will help build user trust in autonomous systems, design transparent human-in-the-loop workflows, and guide your team through complex, ambiguous problems where traditional design playbooks do not yet exist.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of designers by running consistent 1:1s and providing direct feedback.
• Own and elevate design quality across AI products to ensure systems are legible and build user trust.
• Serve as the voice of the user in product and engineering discussions to keep the focus on real-world usage.
• Partner closely with product management and engineering peers to align on priorities, adoption, and metrics.
• Help the team design for AI by fostering strong points of view on transparency and human-in-the-loop flows.
• Contribute hands-on individual contributor design work when complex problems require your direct involvement.
• Connect the Bengaluru team with global partners in the US and Spain through effective communication and collaboration.
• Participate in recruiting to hire diverse talent and build an inclusive team culture.

Requirements

• 8+ years of product design experience with time spent on technically complex B2B or enterprise software.
• 2 to 4 years of direct people management experience including performance feedback and career development.
• Curiosity about AI product design with a developing point of view on trust, transparency, and autonomous systems.
• Experience working in ambiguity by defining problems and shipping to learn.
• Experience working across time zones with strong skills in async communication and relationship building.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Comfort working in code-adjacent tools such as Claude Code and VS Code to engage with the technical work.
• A portfolio demonstrating your design process, problem-solving abilities, and reasoning through tradeoffs.

Good to have

• Hands-on experience designing AI-native products like agentic workflows or human-in-the-loop flows.
• Experience with observability, incident response, or developer-facing infrastructure products.
• Familiarity with design systems and knowing when to use them versus when to expand them.
