CertifyOS in Bengaluru is building the data infrastructure that powers modern healthcare through an API-first platform that automates provider licensing, credentialing, and network monitoring. As a Staff Application Engineer, you will own the full-stack application layer that translates this infrastructure into products used by payers, health systems, and digital health companies. In this role with significant architectural scope, you will not simply execute specs. Instead, you will define how the application layer is structured, drive technical strategy, evolve frontend and backend systems together, and set patterns for a growing engineering team. A normal day involves designing scalable API contracts, architecting UI patterns for complex asynchronous workflows, integrating AI-powered capabilities into the product, and collaborating across product, design, and engineering teams to ensure high performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Own the application layer of the CertifyOS platform and define its overall architecture
- Design API contracts for both internal product teams and external enterprise consumers
- Architect full-stack systems using React, TypeScript, and strongly-typed backend languages like Java
- Integrate AI-powered workflows and LLM capabilities into the application user experience
- Drive technical strategy and influence engineering practices across teams through design docs and code reviews
- Own application-layer performance, caching strategy, and reliability for user-facing systems
Requirements
- 8+ years building production full-stack systems with impact at Staff or Tech Lead level
- Deep backend expertise in Java or a comparable strongly-typed language
- Strong frontend architecture skills in React and TypeScript
- Experience designing and evolving external-facing APIs under active consumers
- Experience building application layers for enterprise B2B products with multi-tenancy and RBAC
- Understanding of SOA and microservices boundaries from an application perspective
- Experience integrating AI and LLM capabilities into production application layers
Good to have
- Fluency across multiple API paradigms including REST, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSockets, and SSE
- Experience building observability into application systems with distributed tracing
- Fluency with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and MCP servers
