The Elastic IT team is currently developing generative and agentic AI experiences to boost productivity across the company. As a UX Engineer based in Bangalore, India, you will work on bridging powerful AI capabilities with intuitive user interfaces. In this full-time role, your normal day will involve translating complex AI processes into responsive front-end interfaces, designing scalable UI component libraries using React and TypeScript, prototyping conversational AI interaction patterns, and optimizing UI performance for real-time AI responses. You will also connect front-end systems to internal services like RAG endpoints, Elasticsearch Relevance Engine, and agent orchestration APIs. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with UX designers, product managers, and AI backend engineers to refine workflows and ensure web accessibility standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex generative and agentic AI processes into intuitive, responsive, and engaging front-end interfaces.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, accessible, and reusable front-end UI component libraries using React and TypeScript.
• Prototype and implement novel interaction patterns for conversational AI, agent execution visibility, and prompt systems.
• Optimize UI performance for real-0time AI responses, managing token streaming latency and asynchronous state management.
• Connect front-end interfaces to internal services including RAG endpoints, ESRE, and agent orchestration APIs.
• Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, and AI backend engineers to test and refine workflows based on user feedback.
• Ensure all front-end interfaces adhere to web accessibility standards (WCAG) and Elastic's core design system (EUI).
• Implement front-end tracking for user satisfaction, interaction latency, and interface usability.

Requirements

• Proven experience creating user interfaces for GenAI applications, conversational interfaces, and complex agent workflows.
• Deep expertise in modern TypeScript, JavaScript, React, HTML5, and CSS/Sass with a modular architecture focus.
• Experience managing complex asynchronous UI state, WebSockets, and Server-Sent Events (SSE) for streaming LLM responses.
• Proficient background or active practice in user experience design, wireframing, design systems, and rapid prototyping.
• Desire to learn and leverage the Elasticsearch Relevance Engine, Elastic UI, and the broader Elastic ecosystem.
• Experience integrating front-end systems with AI and LLM backend services and orchestration tools like LangGraph and APIs.
• Knowledge of web performance optimization techniques, cross-browser compatibility, and WCAG accessibility guidelines.

Good to have

• Experience extending and contributing to enterprise design systems and component documentation tools like Storybook.
• Hands-on experience with modern design and handoff tools such as Figma.
