As a Senior Data Engineer on the Data Platform team in Bangalore, India, you will build the internal infrastructure, services, and tooling that power the company's data stack. Your primary users include analytics engineers, data scientists, software engineers, and operations teams. A normal day in this role involves designing and operating distributed workflow systems using Temporal and Airflow, building config-driven internal platform applications, writing Python libraries for other engineers, and administering data infrastructure such as Snowflake and Kafka while managing cost governance and system reliability.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate internal data platforms, services, and distributed workflow systems like Temporal and Airflow.
• Write and maintain internal Python libraries and shared frameworks consumed by other engineering teams.
• Develop internal data platform applications, including config-driven UIs for ingestion and transformation jobs.
• Administer Snowflake at depth, including role hierarchy design, RBAC, data masking, and cost governance.
• Own production code end-to-end from design and deployment to incident response and operational support.
• Support analytics engineering by building platform capabilities for orchestration, CI/CD, and metadata.
• Implement monitoring tools and processes to track performance, reliability, and health of production systems.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go or Python.
• Experience building and maintaining backend systems, internal tools, or platform applications in production.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals like data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and system design.
• Proficiency in SQL and data modeling.
• Strong understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing, and data governance principles.
• Experience designing and operating APIs, services, and workflow-based systems.

Good to have

• Experience with workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal and Airflow.
• Experience with Snowflake and dbt.
• Experience building internal developer platforms or business-critical internal applications.
• Experience with MLOps including ML model deployment and monitoring.
• Experience with stream processing frameworks such as Flink.
