DigitalOcean is looking for a Senior Software Engineer I to join their Audit Logging & Security Visibility team in Bengaluru. DigitalOcean builds a simple, scalable cloud platform designed to help developers, dreamers, and builders create software. The Audit Logging and Security team creates systems that record and highlight security activities, enabling internal teams and customers to detect threats, investigate incidents, and maintain compliance. In this role, you will take ownership of core logging systems, manage high-throughput data pipelines, build SIEM integrations, and address technical debt. A typical day involves designing scalable data models, writing reliable Go code, integrating security dashboards, resolving production incidents, collaborating with cross-functional teams like IAM and Threat Detection, and guiding junior engineers through code reviews and design feedback.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage reliable, high-throughput pipelines in Go for collecting and enriching audit events.
• Connect platform logs to SIEM tools like Splunk, Datadog, Chronicle, and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Enhance audit records to be tamper-proof with real-time access and retention rules.
• Resolve production issues, manage incident responses, and write postmortems.
• Partner with IAM, Platform, and Threat Detection teams to ensure clean log data generation.
• Fix technical debt and establish logging and event standards across the team.
• Mentor junior engineers through design feedback and code reviews.

Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Go and building services with gRPC.
• Hands-on experience with streaming systems like Kafka or Flink.
• Experience building dashboards, control planes, or SIEM integrations.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals like consistency and failure handling.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, SQL, and analytics databases.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Good to have

• Experience with OpenTelemetry or OCSF.
• Familiarity with behavioral analytics or threat detection tools.
• Contributions to open-source security or observability projects.
• Bonus proficiency in Python or JavaScript/Node.js.
